Criminal Law Talks

At Justice 4 the Wrongfully Incarcerated (J4WI), we believe that knowledge is power—and access to the right information can change lives. Our Criminal Law Talks series is a community-centered initiative designed to educate, empower, and inform individuals and families impacted by the justice system.

Through regularly hosted sessions across New York City, we bring together legal professionals, advocates, and individuals with lived experience to break down complex legal topics into clear, practical, and accessible information. These conversations create a safe and supportive space where participants can ask questions, share experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of their rights and options.

Each session may cover topics such as:

    •    Understanding the criminal justice process

    •    Wrongful convictions and pathways to exoneration

    •    Reentry challenges and available resources

    •    Know-your-rights education

    •    Navigating parole, probation, and court systems

Our goal is not only to inform—but to build confidence, restore dignity, and connect people to the resources and support systems they need to move forward.

Criminal Law Talks also serve as a bridge between the community and the legal field, fostering relationships that promote accountability, transparency, and real change within the justice system.
